The Mother's Union

The M.U. Parish Group meets, usually once a month, on the second Tuesday of the month, in the Parish Hall starting at 7.30pm and finishing at about 9pm.   We start our meetings with a short time of worship and then we either engage in an activity or listen to various speakers talking on a wide range of topics, before spending some time chatting over a cuppa.  Our meetings are open to all whether you are a member or not, male or female, younger or older, or whether you just want to ’drop’ in for a particular session.  So please, come and join with us.
Our remaining meetings for 2017 are the:

 14th November when we will meet together at 7.30pm to make christmas decorations (some of them can later be used to decorate the Parish Hall);
12th December our annual Advent Service at 7.30pm in St Peters Church, followed by Christmas refreshments in the Parish Hall.

On the 3rd Wednesday of the month we join in a Corporate Communion with the rest of the Parish at St Peters Church, starting at 9.30.
We further enjoy extra activities such as the occasional outing or joining with other Deanery M.U. members. We also actively support the work and life of our Parish in various ways. As a group we support the work of the wider M.U.

Mothers' Union is an international Christian membership charity that aims to demonstrate the Christian faith in action through the transformation of communities worldwide.
We are working with people of all faiths and none in 83 countries to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through praying, enabling and campaigning. We support families and communities both in the UK and around the world. Since 1876, when Mary Sumner first brought together parents in her own parish to build their confidence in bringing up their children in the Christian faith, Mothers’ Union has grown to over 4 million members worldwide. Our members work around the world bringing hope and practical support to millions of people every year through our parenting, literacy and community development programmes and as part of the volunteer base of local churches.’

The Mothers’ Union Prayer
Loving Lord, We thank you for your love so freely given to us all. We pray for families around the world. Bless the work of the Mothers' Union as we seek to share your love through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life. Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world. In Jesus' name. Amen
